The low carbon shipping demonstrator system for the INOMANSHIP project has now been installed at the RDM Campus in Rotterdam. The purpose of the system is to replicate the bridge of a low carbon cargo ship, using data from the simulations produced with INOMANS2HIP.
The systems under simulation within the demonstrator are: electric engines, photovoltaics, waste heat recovery, battery storage and various energy efficiency measures.
The demonstrator has been constructed by IMTECH Marine, using simulation models produced by three of the project partners; Newcastle University (UK), TNO (NL) and Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (UK).
The system has now begun the commissioning phase, and will bee fully operational in July 2015.
